If you’re like me, sometime on the weekend you gotta go blogsurfing. Sometimes you’re looking to pick up serious material. Other times, you just want to laugh, or marvel at wierdness, or see something that’s just plain interesting.
Here’s my pick of posts/sites I enjoyed most in the last few days (not in particular order - don’t get hung up on the numbering, Markk, you haven’t won anything just because you’re first!):
- In the Future, When Robots Have Killed All Humans (warning Will Robinson: there’s a rude word in this one)
- What To Do With 3 Decades of Crappy Hanna Barbara Cartoons? by Bad Dad - laugh out loud funny clip from Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law
- The Traffic Cone Preservation Society site is a must for people wanting to understand the evolution of traffic cones and those needing a field guide (ala bird-spotting). Thanks to Say No To Crack for the link. [See picture above]
- A Diaper Changing Primer for New Fathers - the instructions begin like this: Step 1: Check your watch. How much time until your wife comes home? You can instantly see this really is written by one of us.
- Robot Chicken: Star Wars - because you can never have too many Star Wars Parodies…
- This one’s actually from last month, but I keep thinking about it and chuckling: Leah MacLean posts us a beautiful video response to those smarmy Mac ads we’re getting bombarded with on TV. (Warning: more rude words)
- What I Learned From Homer Simpson About Jobs
And finally, can you believe the kid in this video? It’s one of the few times, I’ve felt sorry for a Journalist … but you gotta love the tagline at the end …
this guy is definitely NOT a good ad for home schooling….

“…a man of few words, but when he utters them, he spells them correctly…” - the kid’s a traffic accident. I can only imagine the parents…

Thanks, Jacob!
Molks, that video is probably both the funniest and saddest I saw all week. There’s something to be said for Social Intelligence and I hope that’s where this young man’s learning will head next.

lol what a smartass!
poor reporter…
“i heard you like to eat tuna subs?”
sure sign she was running out of ideas
Pete // Jun 25, 2007 at 5:33 pm
If she was a hardhitting reporter, she might have asked, “So what do you they teach you at “school” about human interaction?”

Clearly the kid needs to get out of the house somehow, maybe by playing sport with other kids, maybe by socializing with other homeschooled kids or anything else that isn’t spelling related!

Jeez, that’s a lot of pressure to put on a young guy (the contest that is, not talking to a dopey reporter).
Talking Head: “Were you surprised that you won?”
Kevin: “Not really.”
Talking Hair: “What did your mom say when you won?”
Kevin: “I don’t know what she said. You better ask my mom.”
Talking DingDong: “You like to eat a Subway Tuna fish sub before every competition?” (holds up a tuna sub on a plate)
Kevin: “No.”
Talking DingDong “Why not?”
LOL. Bet the talking head chewed a few people out behind the scenes after that.
And what’s with the tuna sub on a plate prop? I mean, WTF? You just whip out a tuna sub at 7:30 in the morning? Somebody thought this was a brilliant idea for a morning “newsertainment” show?

Fair comments all, Roland, and it does highlight some of the cynical props and processes “news” shows use.

Yeah - I was thinking the same thing - what the hell was with the Tuna Sub prop - it’s not like he was in the studio with her to eat it!

I’m now not feeling like such bad mum after all.
Ok, my kids aren’t perfectly behaved, and they know how to read “Sexyland” but at least they can ignore people socially!
PAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I agree Pete, funny and scary at the same time. I can see a shooting from a tower at a university working up there ….

I think we’ve given this poor kid enough stick. After all he was in a pretty nerve-wracking situation being on TV and all.
(Now you’ll all be wondering if I’m being sarcastic or serious. I’ll keep it at that - that way I appeal to both fun-pokers and compassionate people at the same time…)
