War of the Worlds

September 25th, 2007 · 6 Comments

Woah!

Ninja (my wife) & I had the pleasure of going to the live version of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds last Saturday night.

And it was the greatest live event I’ve ever been to, partly because of it’s nostalgic nature. Wayne’s original soundtrack came out in the era of my life that also spawned the first Star Wars movie.

Wayne’s music, Richard Burton’s flawless narration and of course HG Wells’ brilliant original story: and now live - at a volume that drove it through my stomach wall! Very very cool!

Anyway, just thought I’d gloat… Heh heh :)

Did they allow you to take photos? Looks pretty cool. Do you think they’ll do an American tour?

No they didn’t but people did. This photo I lifted from the official site. The Martian walker was very impressive even from where we sat, to the side.

For your sake, I hope they do visit the USA. If you’re a fan, it’s well worth the very expensive ticket price.

Looks awesome. I do theatre lighting and this looks like a great show.

How was Shannon “I came second but I’m working harder than Guy” Noll? It looked pretty cool…

I have to say that Shannon Noll (the runner up in the first Australian Idol) was bloody brilliant! He actually did a bit of acting, was true to the role and even enhanced the vocal originally sung by Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy.

The last 12 months or so, Nollsy seems to have found his “voice” in more ways than one.

Sounds like something you could get immersed in. I love it!

Thanks again for joining in the Gonzo Rodeo.

    Cheers!
