Wednesday’s What’s Yours: Theme Songs

November 21st, 2007 · 10 Comments

I’ve decided to mix up the Wednesdays a little and change the format today. Rather than What’s Worse, let’s be positive and ask a different kind of question…

April Groves recently asked a great question: What’s Your Theme Song?

So I’m re-asking it.

I’ve decided mine is John Mayer’s “Bigger than My Body Now“.

What’s Yours?

Well, I was gonna say “Baby Got Back (I Like Big Butts)” by Sir Mix-a-lot, but I’m not so sure that applies as much any more. And my name’s not ‘Baby’.

If it was based on how I am feeling, then it’d be “Something’s Gotta Give” by John Butler Trio.

I need to keep thinking on this one…

Hmm, could be a bit too revealing. Depends on my mood really but right now it’s “All by Myself” (Eric Carmen I believe but the Celine Dion version is the one I know - sadly, too well!).

Apologies to my hubby, this has nothing to do with him.

Pete - I thought this was a fun question myself - especially since I have strong emotional connection to music. Maybe that stems from my inability to create anything musically :)

Thanks for picking up the question!

@ April: I found it an engaging question. I love the idea of theme music playing in our lives. Thanks for prompting some self-reflection for me at least.

@ Mich: Is that a song you feel like you can change? Or does it suit? (I just don’t like Celine Dion! If I had that playing round and round inside my head, I’d be tempted to take a powerdrill to my left temple)

@ The Molk: I don’t know that song, gonna go check it out on Last FM. Will be intereseted in what you decide on…

Oh, that song. That is gangsta! (Does it have something to do with your workplace?)

It’s just one of those one-hit-wonder songs that takes me straight back to 1989…

…and then it pops-up all over the place (it was in Charlie’s Angels, Futurama (’stop playing that classical music’), etc).

    It’s gold.

Good days, bad days…I’ll do my best!

I’m late getting to this one, but I would have to go with “Ramble On” by Led Zepplin or “Over the Hills and Far Away” by the same.

Does the song have to play constantly? Or, does only a little bit play when you walk into a room? Cause if its only a little intro, then I would want something powerful and easily recognized in only a few notes- perhaps the theme song to Sanford and Son, or Jaws, or the Empire March.

Cool choice of songs, my friend.

I love the concept of the song playing as your intro, kinda like the Wrestlers. The Empire March? Going all Mr Burns on us, Jonathan?
