December 5th, 2007 · 14 Comments

Wednesday again? How’d that come round so fast?

Ok, which one of the following is more likely to bug you, folks?

  1. Puns
  2. Practical jokes (pranks)
  3. B-grade sit coms
  4. Kids’ riddle books
  5. A Jerry Lewis movie

    Hmmm
2 - If they are mean spirited

    If not then 1

Aside from #5 you pretty much summed up my life. So I’m voting for #5…does the MS Telethon get included in that category? I’m sure I’m going to hell for asking, but geesh…does it have to be on ALL day? Besides, his homophobic remarks in this year’s telethon pissed me off.

I’m a repentant prankster, so although mean pranks bother me, it’d be hypocritical to choose that one myself. I’ll nail my colors to the mast here and go with the Jerry Lewis movies. [See I don't get how that picture above can be funny; it's just sad... can you imagine behaving like that with a room full of cameramen and grip assistants looking at you? Wierd...]

Tricky this week. I’d say 2 if they’re mean spirited. Otherwise I’d have to choose B-grade sitcoms . . . as long as I can include Everyone Loves Raymond in that category. Which is the WORST, most annoying, most un-funny programme in the history of the universe.

How about Dad Jokes???? I reckon they are the worst type of pun.

And leave poor Jerry Lewis alone. I have to say I loved watching Jerry Lewid Dean Martin movies when I was growing up (25+ hmmmm years ago). Remember that the Yanks can’t do sarcism very well (apologies to all the USA reader here who do have a sense of humour that runs beyond slap-stick).

Jerry was in a league of his own waaaay before Dumb and Dumber ever came along. Now there’s something worse - dumb prepy movies.

I’ll go with kids riddle books.
“Why did the person sit backwards on a horse?…To see where he’s been”
    *groaaannn*
Even as a kid I didn’t even find them funny!

    *high fives Leah*
Jerry Lewis is cool - what’s he doing on this list?

At least you can get away from the sitcoms, or movies - but practical jokes, especially when you’re the joke - nasty….

  • Pete // Dec 6, 2007 at 10:46 am

@ Leah & SaRz: Surely the main purpose of blogging is to post nasty articles about people and things you dislike then look for others who agree with you. Hence, Jerry Lewis remains on this list… ;)

@ Mich: Yeah, nasty. That’s why I’m repentant; I was merciless when I was (much) younger but couldn’t take it when the tables were turned. Better just to not.

Back at ya SaRz. Now you mention it those kids riddle books also remind me of Dad Jokes
    ;-)

    I thought Dad Jokes, too.

My first thought. Surprised it wasn’t on the list, Pete :P

Definitely Dad Jokes. Oh, and Chef Jokes.

Worse when the Chef is also a Dad!

  • Pete // Dec 6, 2007 at 10:24 pm

    Frightening, MC, frightening…

At a personall bugging level, I’m with Bill - you just took away all my best material and opportunity - although I have to include Jerry Lewis movies. Some of them aren’t so crash hot, but some were gold…

Pranks that are vindictive are never fun. Ever. No excuses.

Other than that, I vote for B-Grade sitcoms (especially ones that last for a season or less). Things like:
    - Joey
    - Joanie and Chaci

That’s all I have for now, but I am sure we could all add to the list…

A good argument for #4 appeared on my daily calendar today:

Teacher: Why did you leave your computer out in the cold?

Student: To see if it would get frostbyte.
