If you love the music of (newly re-formed) The Police as much as I do, you may be interested in this post by drummer Stewart Copeland in which he fesses up to how poorly executed their first gig was.
I dunno, folks. I received some sort of perverse reassurance from this; I guess I think “If they can screw up so royally, and still keep going, it’s ok for the rest of us.”
What’s cool about that is he can take the mickey out of himself and the band, laugh it off and still have fun on stage.
All I need to do now is make some snarky comment about age, old bands reforming, 50-year-old rockers wearing adult undergarments etc. But hey; what else are they gonna do? They can, therefore they should.
Good on him for recognising they were crap, at least once!
I can’t wait for tickets to go on sale, as this is one gig I don’t want to miss.
That said, it would be much better to see them in an “intimate” gig, small room, 200 people, etc. An Ent Cent gig will still be good, but it’s only 3 guys, you know…?
I don’t think they’d go for the small room. They can make a lot more money this way and let’s face it – why not?
I agree though. I’m over the whole thousands of sweaty people crammed into a stadium, spitting on you and waving their hands so hard they hit you in the head. I’ll probably just buy the live DVD when it comes out …
