There are no words to describe this. What am amazing way to start my week. When I get tired, or concerned about what the kids do or don’t do, or even when I longing think of the day when they will move into their own homes so that Ian and I can have life back as a couple then I will watch this.
Thanks Pete!
Wow… just plain wow…
Indeed.
I can barely drag my able-bodied son around now, and he’s only 2! Hang on… that might be why I’m losing weight…
Why are you dragging your able-bodied son around?
OK… it’s more of him dragging me around (you remember how much energy 2 year olds have, right?), but there are still the times when he wants to be “pi-up, pi-up, peese”. How do you say no to that?
His 13kg gets heavy after a time… Still, he’s a little lighter than me…
He’s nearing the Safe Work Practises limit of 15 kilos. In a few months, you’ll need two people to lift him to protect your back.
It certainly wears you out at times. We’ve finally drawn the line with our 7 year old and said no more carrying (apart from the odd piggy back). Probably should have done it at 4!
Wow, that video really digs deep. I feel like an even crappier father than I thought I was. That video can only motivate me to be better.
Nah, man, you’re not a crappy father. He’s just sent as a message to all of us to remember the role we play in our kids’ lives until they don’t need it any more … the differences are that 1) Rick will always need it; and 2) … ok he does raise the bar more than a little, but I don’t think he’s rubbing our nose in it…
Hope that made sense, I’m running on no sleep today … but what am I complaining about??
60 Minutes did a story on the Hoyts recently – you can check it out at their website… http://ninemsn.com.au/sixtyminutes/
saw it. The timing was uncanny! Brought a huge tear to the eye and also showed the damage that the pressure has done to the family. Probably the only 60 Minutes episode that’s ever contained balanced journalism. A first!
