Wednesday’s What’s Worse V

Ah, Wednesday! Doesn’t it come around fast these days?
Some blogs use Wednesday for serious profound and even helpful purposes, like Tully’s Wordless Wednesday (Definitely worth a look) or Wordpress Wednesdays.
For me, I like to use Wednesday’s blogpost for trivial purposes. And why should today be any different? So once again, let me ask the question.
What’s worse?
- Romantic Comedies?

- Musicals?

You decide!

Romantic comedies have their place but musicals – uh uh. There are some which are tolerable (eg Grease) but some which are just down right baaad (eg Yentl – Google it people!). I’m sure that the same could be said of romantic comedies but that’s my 2 cents worth!
Don’t get me started on Yentl! (Quick, get me a bucket, I’m going to puke…)
Musicals, I just don’t get them. Here’s a question. If real like was like that (people randomly busting out in coreographed song) would there be more or less violence in the world?
There would certainly be a need for cooperation in order for people to sing together, but since most people that I know can’t sing, I imagine there would be quite a bit of intolerable singing, which in my opinion would lead to violence.
I try to break into coreographed song all the time. No one else knows the words or the dance steps.
RomCom’s can be good, can be bad. Musicals have had their day – last good one was Moulin Rouge, and that wasn’t really a musical. High School Musical is simply a marketing exercise. The Sound of Music gives me nightmares.
This is a 50/50 split. I can list as many bad examples of one as the other, same as good examples. They are a post in themselves.
When are you posting it? I’m there!
Awww, Pete… I love them both…
“Sweet Home Alabama” is one of my favorites. I know all the words to “Papa can you Hear Me?”
I could go on…but I am obviously in the minority so I will not…
I know, I know, it’s very negative, April. But you gotta admit, it’s fun to air your gripes occasionally. Glad you still felt comfortable enough to come out in support of both!
Mmm…not negative…I think I am just a geek
My husband will tell you they are both terrible, musicals are the worst, and if I ask him to watch “Rent” with me one more time…
Musicals are the greatest! :p Shame on you all for your disliking of musicals!
Chicago & Moulin Rouge are the greatest =D
I wish to be in one myself :p
So in response, romantic comedies are definitely worse.
Yup, the minority and proud of it
Atta girl, nail your colours to the mast. As long as you don’t expect the rest of us to go see the same movie at the cinema with you
Musicals with a budget of less than $100 million… If I’m going to have to listen to some dumb song and dance when spoken word will do, they better have some impressive scenery/special effects! The only musical I will tollerate is Les Miserables and if push came to shove, the “in concert” version..
Wife and I have an agreement that we’ll have children before we ever to to a musical… heheheh.
Actaully now you mention it, I begin to remember the “musicals” that I actually dig: Les Mis., War of the Worlds, Journey to the Centre of the Earth (Rick Wakeman) … I think if it has a seriously good or edgy story line and – as you say Mr Tully – has some serious money spent on its production, it’ll probably work for me. Thx for the comment!
Ware of the Worlds musical? Please tell me it’s just a sick joke… please..
“Ware” of the worlds…. nice one…
William/Bill/Tully, it’s no joke and it’s actually quite good if you like late 70s experimental orchestral rock. It’s more music than singing, and it’s music around a theme rather than a musical per se. Check it out on line somehwere…
