American ignorance… I confess I didn’t know what a Dalek was, but… I did guess the show, from which they came. Go me!
Interesting side note, as I verified if I was correct or not, I learned that in a 2008 survey 9 out of 10 British children were able to identify a Dalek correctly.

@ Jonathan: Appreciate your honesty.
Man, that’s funny about the survey. I think I’ll introduce some more random Youtube Dalek-ality to this blog. I just can’t get enough of those little guys.
@ Bryan: I think the main flaw with the set up of this is that in their respective shows, Dalek are powerful malevolent genocidal warriors with radiotion cannons buiolt into them. Buzz Lightyear is an action figure with a lightbulb that blinks.
He was never going to win.

Can’t find that comment on wikipedia. What were they getting at? That Daleks are scary? I wouldn’t have thought so…

Here’s the direct quote:
“The Daleks were created by writer Terry Nation and designed by BBC designer Raymond Cusick. They were introduced in December 1963 in the second Doctor Who serial.[2] They became an immediate hit with viewers, featuring in many subsequent serials and two 1960s motion pictures. They have become synonymous with Doctor Who, and their behaviour and catchphrases are part of British popular culture. “Hiding behind the sofa whenever the Daleks appear” has been cited as an essential element of British cultural identity,[3] and in a 2008 survey, 9 out of 10 British children were able to identify a Dalek correctly.[4]“
