Oldest Son: Dad, is there such a word as bog?
Yours Truly: Yes, that’s a word. [Thinks: where's this going?]
Oldest Son: If you take the letters b & g and put every vowel between them, it makes a word. Bag, beg, big, bog, bug. Cool, huh?
Yours Truly: That’s … cool, son. Sure. [Gives him a warm smile, but thinks: ... Neh?!]

He’s extending his knowledge with some higher level thinking. ..every vowel…that is actually a pretty cool observation…well at least I think its cool.
G’day you two! Thnx for the comments. I agree Jonathan: these comments by a child are often greeted with a “so what?” or indifference or even “what are you on about?!”
At least they were to me when I made them.
That’s why I gave him a warm smile and encouraging comment at the time. I figured something’s going on here that’s not Nintendo and it sounds profound to him.
Definitely a good observation. Isn’t this what they call “Thinking out of the box”? A ery good trait to have…
Oh, he’s definitely an outofthebox thinker. He told me when he was 3 that he knew how time got into the clock. (Through the “pipe at the back” – ie., the power lead).

Can’t get enough of kid-lateral thinking. I just know our eldest will surprise us with the same (although with a Dad like me he’ll know about a ‘bog’).
He already has such an immersive imagination, it simply amazes myself and my Beloved…
That said scrabble fans, how many other two letter combinations can you make word from with every vowel?
Ram, RAM, REM, rim, ROM, rum?
Bat, bet, bit, bot, but?
I haven’t come up with any others besides b-g that cover all five. I’ve found many that can use four vowels. The ones above are debatably because they use modern words that are basically derived from anagrams and I’m not sure if they all have made it into the dictionary.

Just to throw a spanner in the works… have we forgotten poor old little ‘y’? Are these words:
Byg
Rym
Bym
?? HUH ??!!
Come ON, people… lift your game…
I just can’t trust a letter that is sometimes this and sometimes that. If it insists on being so ambivalent it doesn’t deserve the distinction of being a vowel. Even its very name is a question, “Why?”
Besides on Wheel of Fortune they don’t make you pay for a “y”, because it is not a vowel.
Therefore, I dismiss Byg, Rym, and Bym.

My opinion is that Wheel of Fortune is to spelling as Websters is to definitions, so I’m with Jonathan here.
PUH-lease, you people… go and do something worthwhile, like respond to a meme or write up some reports or something…
I’m not playing this game any more. Trucks packed up and going home.
